New blog layout and address!

I am phasing out the “Leoa Design Studio” name. It will still be my etsy address/name, but as far as everything else goes - everything art and design related will be under my own name. The more I thought about it, I want to establish myself as a serious artist/designer and want to make things a little more streamlined. You can view the new blog (which is really this blog but redesigned and renamed) here. I will have a redirect from this blog to the new blog soon but please update your bookmarks!

Also, feel free to comment and let me know what you think of the new layout!

Just listed this yesterday in the shop.

Also, I opened up a shop at Artfire. Not sure if it’s a totally wise idea to list items in more than one place but I thought I would give it a try. The items that are crossed listed at Artfire and Etsy are open edition prints and not originals so there is no risk of running out. You can check out my Artfire shop here.

Very excited about this brand new print! It’s called “Only Sometimes” and it’s a combination of digital illustration and drawing. Printed on archival Somerset Velvet with archival pigment inks! Hot off the press! Or rather hot off the printer!

Lately, I have spent some of my spare time designing cards. I like to work on these because they are small and I am able to flex my designing muscles without having to spend weeks on something. There is a sense of instant gratification to designing these. I can work out some ideas that I have brewing in the back of my head without having to commit to a major project. Plus, they allow me to work with text - which I love to do.

I bought some paper and envelopes in hopes of maybe offering these in my etsy store. I’m not really sure I want to go down that path. Maybe I will just add them to my portfolio. Or better yet, I will send them out to friends. Either way, I have fun with them and sometimes that’s all that matters!

As an artist and designer I am trying to be less ADD about everything. Trying to really get some stuff done instead of working on ten million things at once. It’s really hard, especially since I don’t have alot of time to spend in the studio. Plus, I get like a gazillion ideas all at once! I swear, being my own boss is really hard sometimes. Actually, most times.

In other news, I just ordered some cards to print some designs on. I hope to offer a few cards, and some more photographic postcards on etsy soon. Depending on when the shipment comes in.

If any of you have had a chance to check out my website for the wedding album design you will notice that I have my business geared towards professional photographers. I refuse to say anything bad about working with photographers but I would like to say that I would love to work with bride & grooms who are albumless. I think it would be a really rewarding experience and I would have more freedom to follow through with some ideas that I have in regards to album design. So, if anyone out there needs an album and would like to discuss what I have in mind, please email me!

Oh and I just made a twitter account! So if you would like to see what random thoughts are coming out of my head at any given time then feel free to follow me!

Sorry no pictures in this post! But I will be updating with photos of various projects later this week so stay tuned!

Three photographic postcards! Frame them together or individually! Keep them for yourself or send them to a friend! Each is 4×6 in. and printed on Hahnemuhle paper with archival pigment inks. The paper is super cute ~ the corners are rounded!

I will be adding a few more postcard sets in the next few days so stay tuned!

I am working on putting up a website related to my artwork and graphic design. Through the process of gathering material for my site I am realizing that my portfolio is really thin. I have been concentrating on album design alot lately and haven’t had the time to really go out there and pursue projects. Also, I am not exstatic about the stuff that is in my current portfolio. I have a specific direction that I want to go in and a good portion of this work doesn’t really portray direction.

SO…I am running a special of sorts. I hate to call it a sale. Maybe portfolio building special? Anyways, the idea is that I am looking for clients that are interested in working with me for a very, very discounted price. I am talking about charging a ridiculously low fee.

I am looking for people who need postcards, business cards, logo design, brochures, website concept and design, and fliers. I think this is a great opportunity for both parties involved. You get a great design for a great price and I get solid work for my portfolio!
